Write to us

Everything that arrives is read by a person. There is one thing we cannot help with, and it belongs at the top of this page rather than buried at the bottom of it.

Medical notice. We are a publisher, not a healthcare provider, and we cannot answer a question about your own health. Read the notice in full.

What we cannot do for you

No medical advice, in any circumstances

Alderbury Health Notes publishes reference material. We cannot diagnose you, interpret your test results, comment on your medicines, give an opinion on your case or direct you to a particular clinician. A message asking for any of those receives a short reply pointing back at the medical notice, which is the only honest response available to us.

Take a medical question to your own doctor or pharmacist. If the situation is urgent — no urine will pass, you have fever with shivering and pelvic pain, or you have severe pain with vomiting or confusion — telephone your local emergency number or go to an emergency department now.

One mailbox, four kinds of post

Everything comes to [email protected]. We would rather operate one address that is genuinely read than four that quietly silt up, so name the subject in your subject line and the message lands in the right pile.

Subject: correction

Factual errors, statements that have aged badly, sources you think we have misread, dead links, and suggestions for what to cover next.

Subject: data

Access, correction and deletion requests, cookie questions, and anything else covered by the data notice.

Subject: access

If a page will not work with a screen reader, a keyboard or another aid you rely on, tell us the page and the task that failed. We will mend it.

Subject: permissions

Press enquiries, and requests to quote or reproduce our material at any length. See also the site terms.

Email is the only way in. The project runs online, with no public premises to write to and no telephone line to call. We aim to answer editorial post within five working days, and data requests within whatever period applicable law sets.

How to report an error so that we can act on it

Corrections are the most valuable post we get, and four details are usually enough to let us deal with one the same day:

  1. The address of the page.
  2. The exact sentence or section at issue.
  3. What is wrong with it, in a line or two.
  4. A source supporting the correction, if you happen to have one. A guideline, a systematic review or an institutional page is ideal.

Substantive corrections are applied to the page and shown in its update line, as described under corrections and complaints. We will tell you what we changed.

What we will not take

  • Guest posts, sponsored articles and paid links. Not at any price, so there is no need to send a rate card.
  • Product placement and affiliate proposals concerning medicines, supplements, devices, tests or clinical services.
  • Requests to remove accurate, sourced content on the grounds that somebody finds it commercially inconvenient.

Those refusals are not an opening bid. There are no ad slots on this site and no inventory for sale, which leaves a would-be buyer with nothing to purchase. The arrangement is described under commercial independence.

A word about email and your privacy

A mailbox is not a clinic, and ordinary email is not a private channel. Leave symptoms, diagnoses, scans, laboratory print-outs and medical records out of what you send. If they arrive anyway they will not be read as a case, and they will be removed once the exchange is closed. The wider rules for correspondence sit in the data notice.

If you are struggling

Living with persistent pain is genuinely hard, and it wears people down in ways that have nothing to do with the pain itself. Speak to your clinician, or find a local crisis line through Find A Helpline. In the United States and Canada you can call or text 988. In the United Kingdom, call NHS 111, or the Samaritans on 116 123.
