Site terms
Reading this site means accepting these terms. If you do not accept them, the appropriate response is to stop reading.
Medical notice. The medical notice forms part of these terms and should be read alongside them.
Who publishes this
This website (“the Site”) is published by Alderbury Health Notes (“we”, “us”, “our”), an independent editorial project that operates online and nowhere else. We keep no public premises and no telephone line, and correspondence of every description reaches us at a single address: [email protected].
The Site supplies information, not professional services
The Site publishes general health education. It offers no diagnosis, no treatment plan and no advice about any individual, and reading it does not create a clinician–patient relationship or any other professional relationship. Alderbury is a publisher. It is not a clinic, a remote-consultation service or a dispensary, and it does not sell, ship or broker medicines, supplements, devices, tests or clinical care.
The medical notice is incorporated into these terms and should be read in full. Where the two documents overlap, both apply rather than one displacing the other.
Who the Site is written for
These pages are written for adults. They are not aimed at anyone under eighteen, and we do not set out to collect personal data from children.
What you may and may not do with it
You are welcome to read, print and pass on our pages for your own personal, non-commercial purposes, and to quote short extracts provided you credit Alderbury Health Notes and link to the page you took them from.
You must not:
- Copy our notes wholesale, or sell them, without asking us first in writing.
- Present the wording as your own, or strip the credit, copyright or notice lines from a page.
- Pour the text into a paid product, a training set or a commercial model without written leave.
- Drop our wording into marketing for a medicine, a supplement, a device or a clinic, or use it in a way that suggests we stand behind such a thing.
- Harvest the pages automatically at a rate that slows the Site, or try to step around a technical limit.
- Attack the Site, load hostile code onto it, or try to reach a part of it that is not public.
- Use the Site to break the law or to trample somebody else's rights.
Intellectual property
Except where stated otherwise, the text, design, layout, graphics and code of the Site belong to us or are licensed to us, and are protected by copyright and other intellectual property law. The name and mark “Alderbury Health Notes” are ours and may not be used without permission. The guidelines, reviews and publications we cite remain the property of whoever owns them; we link to those documents rather than reproducing them.
No warranties
The Site and its contents are supplied as they are and as they happen to be available. We work to the sourcing and review practices described in the editorial method, but so far as the law allows we make no promise, express or implied, as to accuracy, completeness, currency or suitability for any purpose you may have in mind — nor that the Site will remain available, remain secure, or remain free of error. Clinical guidance is revised over time, and it is not identical in every country.
Limitation of liability
So far as applicable law permits, neither we nor our contributors bear liability for loss, injury, illness, damage, cost or expense of any kind, direct or indirect — lost profit, lost data and lost goodwill included — arising from your use of the Site, from your reliance on what it says, or from your being unable to reach it at all. The Site is used at your own discretion and at your own risk.
Liability that the law does not permit us to exclude is not excluded here. That covers death or personal injury caused by negligence, and it covers fraud and fraudulent misrepresentation. Where a jurisdiction declines to allow one of the exclusions above, that exclusion operates there only as far as it lawfully may.
Links to other websites
We link outward to other sites so that readers can check our work against the guidance and research behind it. Those sites are beyond our control, and we accept no responsibility for what they contain, what they assert, what they sell or what they do with data. A link from us is a pointer and never a recommendation, and if you go on to deal with whoever is at the other end of it, that dealing is a matter between the two of you.
We carry no advertising of any kind, so nothing on the Site has been paid for by a third party. The arrangement is set out under commercial independence.
Writing to us
Email reaches us over an insecure channel and we cannot act clinically on anything it contains, so please keep confidential health information out of it. Feedback is a different matter: send us a suggestion or a correction and you grant us a non-exclusive, royalty-free right to act on it in improving the Site, with nothing owed to you in return. If we quote correspondence we may trim it for length, and we will not attach your name to it without asking first.
Data
Personal data and cookies are dealt with in the data notice, which is incorporated into these terms.
Changes and availability
Any part of the Site or its contents may be altered, extended, suspended, restricted or withdrawn at any moment and without warning, and these terms may themselves be revised. Whichever version carries the “last updated” line above is the one in force; continuing to use the Site after a revision means you have accepted it.
Applicable law
These terms nominate no governing law and no exclusive forum, which leaves the ordinary rules undisturbed: the law that applies to you where you live applies to these terms as well, and every mandatory protection it affords you as a consumer survives everything written above. If a dispute does arise, write to us first — the Site sells nothing and gathers almost nothing, so there is rarely anything correspondence cannot settle — and should that fail, the competent court is whichever one the rules applicable to you identify.
General
If any provision of these terms proves unenforceable, the remainder stay in force. A failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver of it. These terms, together with the medical notice, the data notice and the editorial method, constitute the entire agreement between us concerning your use of the Site.
A few lines with credit and a link are welcome without asking. For anything longer, and for any commercial use at all, ask first at [email protected] — the same address as everything else. The contact page says what to put in the subject line.
